Epproach Communications Provides WiFi Internet Services for Kids Making It Woodworking Program in Wilmington, NC
Epproach Communications the leading provider of Wireless Broadband Solutions and free Metro WiFi recently donated a MetroFlex modem and a Premium Service Account to the Kids Making It Woodworking Program in downtown Wilmington, NC. Kids Making It (KMI) is a not-for-profit Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative open to court involved youth, as well as youth from the Juvenile Day Treatment Center, those referred by the New Hanover County Gang Task Force, youth suspended from school, or who have dropped out of school, and youth from low income families, all in an effort to keep these kids off of the streets and learning employable vocational skills. Emphasis is placed on building character and drop-out prevention. At their shop and retail store, the kids learn woodworking skills and build and sell a variety of high-quality products (beautiful hardwood pens, faux-finished furniture, natural edge bowls, etc.), and earn all the profits from their sales. The KMI location is in the Jacobi Warehouse at 15 South Water Street, a turn of the century structure located in downtown Wilmington and the Metro WiFi signal was not quite strong enough to provide indoor service to the facility. Epproach provided the Ruckus MetroFlex 2211 Modem to bridge the City Port signal from outside to inside the building and provide high speed service to KMI.
KMI Director Jimmy Pierce said, “City Port WiFi is a great option for us. It gives us a high speed Internet connection and Epproach has been great to work with. Adequate funding is always an issue for us, and we really appreciate this donated service.”
“This is a great example of how muni or metro-WiFi can benefit the community. We are more than happy to provide the MetroFlex and service for KMI. They are a great reference and they help us to expand our downtown presence.” says CEO Marty Hollingsworth. “Plus, this is a good example of the power and capabilities of the MetroFlex 2211. Even when the City Port Metro-WiFi does not penetrate your home or business, you can use the MetroFlex 2211 to get reliable indoor service.”
